Coronavirus India Live Updates: The number of positive Coronavirus cases on Wednesday rose to 20,471, with 652 deaths. The health ministry, in its daily evening update, said that 1,486 more patients tested positive, while 49 new deaths occurred in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, the government brought-in an ordinance aimed to curb attacks on health workers.
The ordinance made attacks on health workers a non-bailable offence with provisions of upto seven years imprisonment, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar announced.
Earlier, Indian Medical Association (IMA) held a symbolic protest against continued attacks on health workers who are in the frontline of the country's coronavirus battle.
The doctors' body later withdrew its protest after their meeting with the Home Minister and the Health Minister.
